We’re all just looking for the play button. Screens are everywhere. Short form video rules the internet, and we’re all carrying around 4K cameras in our pocket.
Yet the most deserving stories of our time go mostly untold.
Authenticity is hot right now. Independent businesses, cause-driven nonprofits, and vibrant community associations know what they’re after. Nothing reaches customers or constituents more effectively than a good reel. But the barriers have been formidable. No time, no tech savvy, or an aversion to the red button. Selfie video is a daunting proposition.
We offer a new solution. Hero Network is now available as a self-serve software platform, designed for those tasked with the promotion and celebration of others.
The Hero Network platform turns your conversations into videos. Include live b-roll capture or the stuff that’s already on your camera roll. You guide the narrative, through full creative control or by approving our editing engine suggestions.
We’ve been on this quest for a while, my co-founder son and me, wrangling tech advances into a product and price point that finally works for our chosen market.
A recent product test reminded me of our ‘why.’ I interviewed Becky, the new owner of Tubby’s Own Ice Cream, our beloved slice of heaven on the bank of the Mill Pond, in Wayne, Maine.
I had never really spoken to her before I sent the link to her phone. She sat down under the awning in front of the service window. She said that owning an ice cream stand was just a “little girl dream” from her time growing up on the farm. Scared of her first business venture, but grateful for a supportive community. “This brings me joy.”
She was answering questions, not self-promoting. There’s a difference between speaking and being listened to. The latter rings true and creates connection.
Needless to say, given a rooting interest, my ice cream expense went up for the remainder of the summer. Not good for the waistline.
You know the stories in your communities that deserve to be told, and you are the perfect conversation host. I’m reaching out to Substackers, independent journalists and publishers to offer another tool for your storytelling. If you are interested in early access to the platform, I’d love to hear from you.
